Macy's Holiday/Christmas 2011 Window Displays

As my window fascination bonanza continues, I'd like to share with you photos of the breath-taking or breath-stopping (literally) Holiday/Christmas 2011 windows of Macy's central store in New York. The music played in the background made a huge impact on the overall experience of "window-watching".
It felt like you were in one of those "real people" -animated Tim Burton's cartoons.
The mechanical elfs/women-elfs seemed like they actually had souls; it might be the look in their eyes that was so fantastically real.
As Bloomingdale's Window Displays, Macy's displays featured not fashion but a magical story that takes us deep into our mind and plays with our wild imagination.

Bloomingdale's Holiday/Christmas 2011 Windows

Yesterday, November 16, 2011, Bloomingdale's on the 58th & Lexington in New York had their Holiday/Christmas window unveiling celebration. I didn't make it to the official opening at 5PM due to my late nap-ping daughter :) Yet we gladly got ready and went to check out the new window magic that Bloomingldale's had to offer.
It was raining that day and I hope many people came to enjoy the celebration.
In the store, there was a super dooper welcoming ambiance: amazingly delicious hot chocolate with marshmallows, yummy cookies, gingerbread cookies, and even alcoholic beverages (champagne perhaps, I don't drink yet) served by servers in green t-shirts with antlers. There were DJs on almost every floor, choir singers, and a Holiday ball decorating activity by The Craft Studio for the wee ones on the kids floor. Since, my daughter is only able to adorn her tiny hands with glue and sparkles right now, I was more than ecstatic to decorate a Christmas ball myself. It turned out pretty cute, what do you think? I thought that the whole ball decorating activity for kids was a great touch of the Bloomingdales team.
Let's get to the windows finally! Honestly, I expected more, but perhaps I am more of a Bergdorf- Goodman- elaborate- window- lover.
Bloomingdales windows have a large shopping bag in each window that opens up or rotates with a adorable Christmas-spirited stories. All the "stories" had mechanically moving animals or Santa, which was eye-catching and intriguing. Now, that is lovely! Their goal was definitely not display merchandise but to create a celebratory, family-oriniented(as in love for your family), happy atmosphere for their shoppers.
